Getting Fit Fast", "Fast weight loss", "Drop 50 pounds in 2 weeks". Do any of these searches look familiar to your eyes as you have typed them in the past? There are thousands of articles/blogs about these topics to get you reeled in and eating every word of it. But what happened after reading those articles? Did that 8 minute workout per day make you fit? Did you change your habits? Did you lose that weight and get "fit" FAST by using their methods of convincing? Don't say anything, I already know the answer.
I too have been one to find myself in a slump and googling things similar to this to get myself motivted. I've been a Personal Trainer for 10 years, Martial Artist for almost 30 years, and weight lifter for most of my adult life. But with that knowledge about me, understand ladies, that even I have times of low motivation, fatigue, and make excuses here and there. This is normal. If you have ever worked out for a few days in a row, you know the feeling you get, that addiction, that confidence, and the energy to keep going the next day. I know it, and it is what keeps me going. Sure I have to remind myself some days, "you'll just feel better if you lift today", "you will be happier if you get off you tail".
Without that mental ability to keep going, motivation, and goal...we get nowhere fast. So to keep you from having to read a long 5 paragraph intro, which is what I hate about most articles, I'm just going to get to it! Here is how to "Get Fit Fast"
1. Keeping Focused on your Goal: Don't pretend that you are!
So the first and most important thing you MUST do is know your goal! What do you want? How bad do you want it? Are you willing to make the time to meet your goal? If you didn't answer yes to that third question, I can promise you will never meet your goals. Sorry. a.)Make a list of all the reasons you want to meet you goal. Put this list somewhere you will see it everyday. If it helps make a list of things you cant do if you do not reach that goal, i.e. where that swimsuit you want to wear to the water park/beach, wearing shorts in the summer, playing soccer with my children...etc. If you are reminded every day you will be reminded even on those days you were going to be too busy. b.) Let your loved ones know your goal. My daughter knows that I like to feel strong because she was raised around me lifting and working out. When she hears me say "I don't feel very strong" she reminds me to workout. She even says "come'on. We can both workout." My fiancé also workout and when I am feeling down, he will mention, "Maybe you will feel better if you go for a run." Now to be honest if I was feeling really insecure that day, this might hurt my feelings a bit...but I know he understand how my body works and I AM HAPPIER when I am physically active. You may not have the support system you need...so keeping your goals to your self might seem more appealing.
2. Unfollowing accounts that make you feel bad! Life always looks much more glamorous with filters, angles, and lighting...but when you add a flawless body, the twenty somethings with lip jobs and their flawless outer beauty and we see them and wish we could be more flawless. Does looking at their perfect body in constant thong bikini photos and flawless twenty year old skin make you feel better? Be honest. Then Why do we continue to follow these people? Are they bad people? Absolutely not! But if it doesn't make you feel good or give you positive motivation, we need to stop and look at our social media accounts. Unfollowing those individuals who make you feel like you should be more, get plastic surgery or lip injections, or make you feel like your life isn't enough. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting work done if it will make you happier...but I know women who have spent money they didn't have just to have a chance at being more "beautiful". You are already beautiful!
3. You're not eating enough! You are overdoing it on your diet! Stop Under-Eating! Stop skipping meals! These things are just as bad detrimental as over-eating. Nutrition determines 80% of your results, guys. You should know that under- or over-eating can cause you to gain or hold weight. I am not telling you to "count Macros", but you do need to make sure you are getting enough protein, good fats, and carbs in your diet. If you aren’t sure how much you need to eat but you’re not quite ready or able to hire a certified nutritionist follow, these simple rules at each meal:
So, ladies, stay focused on the reasons you want to change your health habits! Don't give up. And give it time. Keep in mind, it usually takes about 2 months to make a new behavior a habit. So how bad do you want this? Stick With It!
